Hay Bay Sand & Gravel is a family-oriented, full service aggregate and excavating business in the L&A County. We pride ourselves on the dedication and quality we bring to every project.
Our History
1988
Vern Kimmett started his own company, Vern’s Contracting, completing projects with a sole track-loader.
1990
Vern’s Contracting began working out of McConnell’s Quarry, providing a wide range of gravel products to the local area.
1993
Hay Bay Sand & Gravel Inc. was founded by Jim, Vernon, and Vicky Kimmett.
1995
The modernization of the Hay Bay Pit and Quarry began, including scales and a computerized weigh out system, which was one of the first in the area.
2002
Purchase of Marlbank Pit. This location is utilized for sand and pit run gravel.
2008
Hay Bay Sand & Gravel relocated to their newly built office and shop in Napanee.
2016
Official opening of Tamworth Pit, providing customers with high quality sand products, and was the start of advanced modernization to all Hay Bay operated pits and quarries.
2017
Scale houses and advanced computerized weigh out programs were installed, allowing more efficient operations with future plans of a virtual weigh out system from our office in Napanee. First of its kind in L&A County.
Our Team
Vern & Vicky Kimmett Founders
Vernon opened Hay Bay Sand & Gravel Inc. in 1993 with the hopes of developing a well known excavation and aggregate company in the L&A County. Shortly after the founding of Hay Bay, Vern’s wife Vicky joined the business and has since become a vital member, managing client relations and HR responsibilities. Vern brings forth over 40 years of experience within the construction industry, having worked in both Ontario and Alberta. Together, Vern and Vicky have successfully created a family-centric local construction business that focuses on customer relationships and consistently provides superior service.
Nathan Kimmett Foreman
Since a young age, Nathan has shown a keen interest in being involved in the company, having ran a landscape business during the summer out of Hay Bay’s yard in Napanee throughout high school. Nathan has since received his Civil Engineering Technologist diploma from St. Lawrence College and now provides leadership in layout, water, and sewer jobs. Working alongside his father, Nathan will continue to take on more of a leadership role within the business.
